Meet the Founders

Irfaan Rafiq

(Founder of the Great British Summer Camp)

Educated at King’s College London, with twelve years of teaching and professional industry experience. Irfaan has worked for Hollywood film directors at The National Film and Television School, and toured Europe as a professional Shakespearean actor. His knowledge and experience will ensure high quality workshops for GBSC.

His professional credits have contributed to his success as a fully qualified teacher. Irfaan’s students' attainment have consistently reached the top 2% in secondary schools nationally.  He has created and taught bespoke acting workshops for international schools. These unique experiences have created strong connections with professional arts organisations such as The Royal Opera House, Shakespeare’s The Globe and The National Theatre, London.

Jo Rafiq

(Co-founder of the Great British Summer Camp)

Educated by teachers from the Martha Graham Company, with twelve years teaching and industry experience. Jo’s unique professional career has also included opportunities to dance at ‘The Brixton Academy’, leading to a highly experienced AQA Dance teacher qualification. Jo’s film credits include Tim Burton’s ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’, ‘The Holiday’ with Cameron Diaz. As a highly skilled teacher Jo’s students have obtained highly successful results at BTEC Level 2, 3 and GCSE; consistently achieving 100% A* to C. Jo’s experience and expertise will ensure the highest of quality workshops.
